Here's a tip that will help your relocation be a much easier affair.

As soon as you have planned your departure you will know approximately when you will be in your new residence. Before you start out on your move try to schedule in advance as many utility hook ups as you can. Often you can't just pick up the phone and have electrical, gas, telephone or cable television service within a day or so. Some companies require a week or more of notice before they can turn on their service.

If you schedule your utilities well in advance you can arrive at your new residence and have everything turned on within a day of your arrival. That will make your relocation much less stressful.
